|In October of 1997, Wally Skalij joined the photography staff at the Los Angeles Times. Over the past 14 years, he has covered five olympic games, nine NBA Finals, and numerous other sporting events including World Series games, hockey finals, boxing championships, and the Kentucky Derby. |
Wally has been been a faculty member in the Sports Shooter Workshop for many years and enjoys devoting his time to help others grow as photographers. In high school, he went to a Lakers game with friends and saw the photographers shooting court side. From that moment, he knew what he wanted to do with his life. Wally worked for the Peninsula News and the Daily Breeze before being hired at the Times.
